Really puts it into perspective how precarious our situation is within the universe. Only a relatively thin layer of air separates a planet flourishing with life from the harsh vacuum of space. A precious layer of gases that protects, regulates, and sustains all of the life we know to exist.

Without this thin band of gas, our entire planet would be a barren wasteland.

Various tags on this post like "isn't that venting?" "isn't that kvetching?" and sure it's a subcategory of that. But those are missing the key detail of this specific case which is the "I'm not in the right."
